Dr. Fiske, M.D. Treating Urinary Incontinence in Women
Urinary Incontinence is a common problem for women. A weakness in the pelvic muscles, usually after childbirth, allows for leakage of urine with coughing, sneezing or laughing.
Sometimes the leakage can be severe enough to require women to wear pads or diapers to prevent embarrassing situations.
Until recently, the surgical procedures available required long surgical time, a catheter post operatively, and an overnight hospital stay. Dr. Joshua Fiske’s minimally invasive TVTO (Tension Free Vaginal Tape Obturator) approach, on the other hand, takes about 20 minutes… and the patient is able to go home the same day, without a urinary catheter. “The patient feels better immediately,” says Dr. Fiske. “Their quality of life brightens – literally in minutes. They go home smiling. It’s a great feeling to see patients respond that way.”
Dr. Fiske received his MD from NYU and served his residency in Urology at NYU/Bellevue Medical Center in Manhattan. He sees patients at his offices in West Orange, Kearny, Roselle Park and Westfield.
